Resources for your steel building design
Explore your steel building layout before requesting drawings and pricing. Steel Building Design brings dimensions, roof choices, colours and openings together in one interactive view. These resources explain the planning process and help you turn an initial idea into a clear project brief for an Ontario site.
Start with the purpose
Think about the activities, equipment and vehicles the building needs to accommodate. A garage, workshop, agricultural space and commercial building can need different layouts. Note any storage, working areas or future expansion space you want the team to consider.
Plan dimensions and access
Set the width, length and eave height, then place doors and windows where they support your intended use. Check access routes, equipment heights and the position of larger openings. The 3D view helps you compare arrangements; final clearances and structural details still require project review.
Compare the available options
Try roof styles, finishes and opening locations in the designer. Where available, explore additional design options and record any special requests in your project notes. Save your design so you can return to it, or share the concept when you discuss the project.
Prepare your site information
Have the project location, intended use and approximate schedule ready. Include any site drawings or information you already have about access, utilities, grading and foundations. Tell the team which details are still undecided rather than treating a visual concept as a completed specification.
Request drawings and pricing
Return to the designer when you are ready and select Request drawings and pricing. Review the dimensions and project notes before sending the request. Your concept gives the team a starting point to discuss the scope, suitable options and next steps for your project.
Understand the design stage
The online model is a concept planning tool. It is not a set of engineered or permit-ready drawings. Final specifications, structural design, foundations, local approvals and site requirements must be confirmed for the particular project. Pricing depends on the reviewed scope rather than the appearance of the model alone.
